Jean Middleton joined APLU in February 1992. As chief of staff and national meeting coordinator, she serves in a pivotal executive-support role aiding the top decision makers of the association. Middleton brings over 20 years’ experience in event management and oversees all event operations, is in charge of meeting planning, and supervises the association’s meeting and administrative staff. In addition, she serves as APLU’s Corporate Secretary for the Board of Directors and manages a membership database of more than 12,000 individuals.
Middleton is a native Washingtonian and a graduate of Bowie State University with a B.A. in sociology and criminal justice. She is also a Certified Meeting Planner.
Middleton is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE); Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM); Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA); and Meeting Professionals International (MPI). She serves as a volunteer on the Education Committee for MPI.
