Linda Swearingen joined APLU in March 2019 as the Executive Assistant to APLU President, Peter McPherson, and Jean Middleton, Vice President and Chief of Staff at APLU. Linda has over twenty years of administrative experience in various fields, and holds three college degrees in Art, Mass Communications, and English. She is currently working on a Master’s degree program in Business Management and Marketing at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC).
APLU’s Sarah Rovito spoke on a panel on Why & How Universities Should Take on Moonshots at SXSW EDU in Austin, Texas. Rovito joined colleagues from the University of Texas at Austin Bridging Barriers, UCLA Grand Challenges, and Schmidt Futures to share how university-led Grand Challenge, or “moonshot” initiatives, are capable of solving societal problems and conveying the value of research to the public.
