Elise Miller, APLU's Vice President for Research and Policy Analysis, will speak at a University of Texas System panel examining data transparency in higher education on March 27. The University of Texas System has pioneered a tool, seekUT, allowing prospective students to explore employment and earnings outcomes for former students who attended University of Texas System institutions. Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the seekUT tool is soon launching a new version aggregating outcomes for former students living not only in Texas, but across the United States.
Shalin Jyotishi presented findings from the Technology Transfer Evolution Working Group of APLU’s Commission on Innovation, Competitiveness and Economic Prosperity (CICEP) during the 2017 Technology Transfer Society (T2S) Annual Meeting. Jyotishi’s presentation illustrated how and why university technology transfer offices have evolved and must continue to evolve in order to address growing societal and economic challenges. He also spoke to how APLU’s Innovation and Economic Prosperity (IEP) Universities Program is helping universities navigate this evolutionary process.
APLU’s Director of Congressional & Governmental Affairs, Craig Lindwarm, was invited by the Office of the House Democratic Whip, Steny Hoyer, to brief Chiefs of Staff, Legislative Directors, and Legislative Assistants on the importance of passing legislation to extend authorization for the Perkins Loan Program.
APLU’s Eugene Anderson participated in a panel at Delaware State University’s 2017 HBCU Symposium. Anderson discussed emerging issues in student financial aid, including the impact of cuts in aid at HBCUs.
