Dr. Janet Nelson is Vice President for Research and Economic Development at the University of Idaho. Previously, she was the associate vice chancellor for research development at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is a demonstrated leader with direct career experiences across academia, government, not-for-profit organizations and industrial communities. She also has technical experience ranging from catalysis and energy research to biomedical research and enabling technology development.
Nelson has a doctorate in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Calif., and nearly 30 years of experience in scientific research, scientific review and research portfolio administration, complex and multi-disciplinary program/project management, business development science policy implementation and academic administration.
