Academic Advisor – School of Architecture

The Academic Advisor in the School of Architecture serves as an integral member in the school that provides advising and support to the department's students and faculty. The position will advise ARCH and ArchE majors on academic plans of study. Maintains ongoing focus for student success and retention. Evaluates student records and maintains advising records/files. Use the STAR system for advising appointments, document storage and advisor notes. Will organize and conduct enrollment meetings for SoA students. This position must demonstrate a clear knowledge of departmental academic policies and procedures while offering direction to students regarding School of Architecture’s programs, prerequisites and graduation checks. Performs administrative duties and special projects as assigned. Represents College at student organizational meetings and functions. Advises prospective students and families. Required recruiting programs, student development programs, graduation convocations, camps, etc. may be arranged outside the normal working day. Some travel may be necessary. May need to lift 10-20 lbs on occasion. Sitting for long periods of time. Repetitive motions due to computer usage.

Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, ArchE, or another related field and two years of experience in an academic setting. Proficiency using Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Ability to learn a variety of task specific computer programs. Ability to write professional letters and reports. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage projected deadlines. A proactive and positive attitude, as a participant in a diverse, team-oriented environment, demonstrating initiative, creativity, and the desire to assist students in achieving success at OSU and beyond. The capacity and integrity to manage students' personal and confidential information appropriately.

Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in Counseling/Advising and one or more years of experience with OSU systems and policies. Two years of experience in a related academic setting.
