Serve as academic counselor for undergraduate School of Media and Strategic Communications (SMSC) students, this includes employing counseling and advising techniques that will facilitate completion of degree programs. Coordinate SMSC recruiting efforts. Assist with Pre-Mass Communication (PMC/freshman) students, which includes teaching one section of A&S 1111 (freshman orientation for PMC students) each fall and assisting PMC students during summer freshman enrollment. Communications for SMSC, including production of departmental newsletter, updating information on website and social media, as well as assisting with the creation of information sheets and recruiting material. Assist students with the exploration of life and career goals and promote internship opportunities.
Minimum qualifications: Master's Degree in Student Development, Counseling, Higher Education, or related field and 1-3 years’ experience in a related position. Preferred Qualifications: 3 years advising and/or teaching in a higher education setting. Knowledge of Adobe Suite and website maintenance.
