Under the direction of the Arboretum Superintendent/Horticulturist, the incumbent performs various duties to maintain and develop the grounds of the University of Idaho Arboretum.
Due to the duties of this position, successful candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Willingness to work in areas where various landscape and agricultural chemicals have been used, and to work with the reclaimed water utilized in the irrigation system.
Ability to: safely operate various types of landscape maintenance equipment including mowers (both tractor and push), weed trimmers, small tractors and all kinds of hand tools from shovels to pruners; work independently without close supervision; work safely and cooperatively with other team members to accomplish desired results; and interact with public visitors in a positive manner.
MUST : must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles.
Experience in the fields of horticulture, landscape architecture, landscape maintenance or landscape construction.
Education or training in the fields of horticulture, landscape architecture, landscape maintenance or landscape construction.
Experience safely operating and performing routine maintenance on small mowers, weed trimmers and other landscape maintenance equipment.
Basic mechanical skills for routine maintenance of small engines and equipment.
