Assistant Dean for Operations and Outreach

Location: Moscow

Division/College: College of Natural Resources

Employee Category: Exempt

Pay Range: $65,021 - $84,531 or higher depending on experience

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Position Summary:

The Assistant Dean provides leadership and management of the successful financial operation and fiscal growth of the College of Natural Resources. Specific responsibilities include analysis and forecasting for All Funds budgets, asset management for the Experimental Forest, Pitkin Forest Nursery, McCall Field Campus (MOSS ), Taylor Wilderness Research Station, Motorpool and other revenue producing enterprises as needed in support of academic mission. In addition, the Assistant Dean will provide outreach efforts to industry and stakeholders, including maintenance of the college advisory board, and support the Dean in legislative efforts related to natural resource issues. The Assistant Dean will supervise the college's fiscal staff and operations, and directors of revenue producing assets.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, or closely related field

4 years experience in financial management, assessment, forecasting and budgeting

Familiarity with database computer systems used in higher education including Banner and Microsoft Office or equivalent

Must possess and demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills such that one can work independently and in a multi-layered team environment, teamwork and cooperation when working towards meeting organization goals

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Natural Resources discipline

Experience in managing forest assets with emphasis in managing state forest assets

2 years experience in financial assessment of field campuses, research stations, or other real property assets

Demonstrated ability in strategic planning

4 years experience in developing business plans, capital building projects, in a higher education environment

Public relations experience

Grant writing experience

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Willingness to: travel, work odd hours and weekends, fly in small fix-winged aircraft into the wilderness, navigate rough terrain; ability to lift or otherwise move up to 30lbs.
