Position Summary:

Located at the University of Idaho at Coeur d'Alene (UICDA ), the Assistant Director of Admissions coordinates UICDA recruitment and conversion initiatives for prospective and admitted undergraduate transfer students and graduate students and will act as the primary UICDA contact for high schools and regional community colleges in the North Idaho / Eastern Washington area. With a strong work ethic and understanding of enrollment cycles, he / she will assist prospective students in their transition to UICDA , to include representing the University of Idaho at college fairs, financial aid nights, visits to local high schools and community colleges and following up with contacts. The assistant director is also responsible for working collaboratively with the Associate Director of Admissions from the Moscow campus to ensure that students and parents are being appropriately served whether they decide on attending UICDA or the University of Idaho.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree

Experience: compiling and analyzing information; identifying and defining problems / alternatives and developing recommendations; presenting information clearly and concisely; planning, organizing and implementing workshops, programs and conferences; extensive experience speaking publicly to small and large groups.

Good knowledge of: a student centered / customer service oriented philosophy is essential; good management principles and practices and their application; techniques and procedures used in program development; developing, reporting and evaluating programs; knowledge and understanding of the structure and chain of responsibilities within a university; record keeping systems; public relations and marketing principles; use of automation in the workplace.

Ability to: operate independently, exercising independent judgment and discretion with little or no guidance, and to be able to make decisions on behalf of the Office of Admissions and the university that are appropriate, timely and defensible; display strong organizational skills; communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with individuals and large groups; quickly gain familiarity with university policies, procedures and programs; work cooperatively as part of a team with a variety of people, including students, faculty and administrators; promote activities using skills such as writing, advertising and design; serve as liaison with other departments / institutions; explain and implement policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in student counseling, education, business, public relations, or other field.

Direct experience in university recruiting and admissions counseling.

In-depth knowledge of transfer evaluation and admissions processes.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Ability to travel to remote locations for recruitment purposes.

Ability to lift and / or otherwise move up to 40 pounds.

Willingness to travel for several weeks in the fall and in the spring and to work selected evenings and weekends.
