Title: Assistant Extension Professor of Family Finance/Resource Management
Responsibilities: This is a twelve-month, Extension Title Series, tenure-track position at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Family Sciences. The anticipated distribution of effort is 85% Extension and 15% teaching (one course per year).
The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in consumer economics, personal finance, and financial planning; is expected to provide leadership in planning, delivering, and evaluating research-based Family Financial Management Extension programming, as well as develop educational materials, develop and conduct in-service training for county agents, and collaborate with resident faculty and other Extension specialists, county agents, and state-wide family finance professionals to address the resource management needs of diverse families; implement applied research relative to the needs of Kentucky families and publish findings in refereed journals; seek extramural funding for projects that enhance the lives of Kentucky families; and participate in departmental and collegiate governance and professional organizations. This position would contribute toward the College strategic plan goal of producing “innovative solutions through multidisciplinary collaborations”.
Qualifications: By start date, candidates must have a Ph.D. in consumer/family economics, personal finance, resource management, financial planning, or closely related field. A qualified applicant will have a commitment to the interdisciplinary nature of family and consumer sciences extension. Experience with Extension and/or outreach program development, delivery, applied research, and publications are strongly desired. Willingness to travel extensively throughout the state is required.
Candidate must display a commitment to excellence in teaching, including strong interest in contributing to a student-centered environment that nurtures and challenges students to achieve at high levels; commitment to a systemic approach to family life; and a commitment to diversity. Grant-writing experience is preferred.
Department of Family Sciences: Family Sciences is a student-centered department that within the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment at the University of Kentucky.
