The Department of Sociology & Rural Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2019. We are seeking a colleague whose duties will include teaching policing and criminal justice courses, maintaining an active, independent research agenda that includes peer-reviewed publications, grant activity, and service to the department. The maximum teaching load is three courses per semester. Minimum qualifications include: demonstrated record of teaching Criminal Justice courses, especially Policing related; earned PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or related field by date of appointment; effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills; demonstrated record of, or strong potential for conducting research, and ability to facilitate research projects.
Desired qualifications include: demonstrated grant experience; publication history; ability to advise Master’s and PhD students in thesis and dissertations; ability to contribute to both the undergraduate and graduate program in the department; and quantitative analysis.
