Assistant Professor/Director Digital Curation

The Oklahoma State University Library seeks forward-thinking, creative librarians, curators, and archivists with a passion for both learning and teaching who are eager to drive their own projects, innovate, and take on challenges. Library faculty are actively engaged in the OSU academic research lifecycle and develop collaborations with faculty, researchers, students, and community partners.

As the Director of Digital Curation, you will join a growing team of innovative individuals who contribute to achieving the strategic goals of the Special Collections division. This is a tenure track position with anticipated initial appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Director of Digital Curation will contribute to achieving the strategic goals of the Special Collections division.

This position will provide leadership in the areas of access, preservation, and discovery of digital resources. Incumbent reports to the Associate Dean for Special Collections but will also work closely with other departments in the Library.

Minimum qualifications: ALA-MLIS or Master's in a related discipline. Professional archives/library experience. Proven leadership and management excellence, as well as staff supervisory experience. Prior work processing born-digital collections, providing digital preservation services, and creating and curating online access and discovery of digital resources. Demonstrated knowledge of metadata standards and controlled vocabularies. Experience converting materials from analog to digital formats and knowledge of relevant archival standards. A successful Director of Digital Curation will possess strong organizational and leadership skills; excellent communication ability; collegiality and excellent interpersonal skills; and an appreciation for diverse constituencies. Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in related field. Previous work curating digital exhibits. Experience in the area of digital humanities or digital history. Coding proficiency in Python or a similar language.
