Associate Extension Educator-Pesticide Management

Pay Range: $38,000 - $40,000

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Position Summary:

The Associate Extension Educator is responsible for developing and maintaining pest management information, publications and curriculum for the Pesticide Safety Education Program. The Associate Extension Educator will be responsible for project management as outlined by the program project director and grant funding. The Associate Extension Educator will assist the project director with stakeholder communication and outreach, in addition to maintaining the Idaho Pest Management Center portal.

This position is a grant funded, 3 year term, with the opportunity to continue as additional funding is secured.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor degree in related field.

Must possess: demonstrated technical writing experience; excellent writing and editing skills.

Ability to: explain scientific and technical information in a clear and understandable style; communicate with agricultural producers and other clientele.

Ability to: work independently; identify priorities; set goals, timelines and deadlines; implement multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience with: standard computer software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).

Experience: teaching Extension clientele.

Valid Idaho Professional Pesticide Consultant’s License is required upon hiring or within three months of start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

M.S. degree in related field.

Working knowledge of: pesticides, pesticide application methods and technology, pesticide safety, pesticide regulations, health and environmental hazards associated with pesticides.

Knowledge of: insect, weed, pathogen, nematode and vertebrate pests; pest management tactics.

Experience with: development of extension, peer reviewed publications, project management, social media and grant writing.

Ability to: organize meetings; follow-up on suggestions and concerns.

Experience with: verbal and written fluency in Spanish.
