The Construction and Operations Management department at South Dakota State University invites applications for a full-time Instructor for our Construction Management program starting August 2017. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mentor and grow future leaders of the construction industry. We enjoy strong support from our industry partners in the commercial, heavy-highway-utilities, and residential building sectors.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching courses primarily in the areas of pre-construction estimating, building methods and materials, construction law, and construction cost accounting. Other duties will include program assessment and curriculum development; student advising and mentoring; scholarship of teaching and learning; outreach to the university, community and profession; and duties as assigned by the department head.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in a field related to construction completed by start date; 3 years domestic construction-related industry experience; effective written and verbal communications skills; and effective interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional years of industry experience in a supervisory role; evidence of quality teaching experience at the post-secondary level; terminal degree in a field related to construction or applied management; and evidence of ability to perform industry outreach.
