Job Description

This position is with the Center for Applied Research and Engagement Systems (CARES), MU Extension, University of Missouri.
This full-time position (minimum 0.75% FTE) will develop computer programs to better manage databases and database content in support of multiple sponsored projects at CARES.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The position will be assigned project-based database management tasks. The position will work in a Microsoft SQL Server environment, designing and maintaining databases in a project-oriented team environment. The position will develop computer programs and procedures for efficiencies in data integration, management, and security. The position will report to CARES management staff. The position may interact with project sponsor technical staff.

As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.

Salary

Salary Range: $47,476 - $65,000 annually

Grade: GGS 09 to 12

Minimum Qualifications

In appraising the relative qualifications of candidates for all levels, consideration will be given to the extent and type of experience with various information technology functions and to the extent and type of pertinent education and formal training. At the time a job opening is posted the hiring department will specify required knowledge and skills pertaining to specific technologies/ software /equipment.

  • Working knowledge of or proven capability to quickly learn programming language(s), operating systems, a text editor, report generators, database management, direct access techniques, remote processing and virtual systems to be utilized / supported within the hiring operating unit.
  • Knowledge of data modeling concepts and design techniques, database definitions, testing and debugging databases, generating and maintaining database management systems, and applying security concepts while designing and maintaining database structure’s data integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Structured Query Language (SQL). Experience with database spatial data models, Python, and ArcGIS is preferred.
