Pay Range: $53,000 annually or higher commensurate with experience

Position Summary:

The UI Children's Center Director reports to the Director, Administrative & Fiscal Operation for Student Affairs and is responsible for consistent achievement of the organization's mission and organizational objectives by administering a high quality childcare program for children and families of the UI Children's Center. The Director ensures the program offers a positive work environment that enables recruitment and retention of qualified staff. The Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC ) and the IdahoStars Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS ). The director is responsible for maintaining the high quality of care required to continue this accreditation.

This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or University closure.*

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education, child development and family studies, early childhood special education, or elementary education.

Minimum five years of experience as a program administrator in a childcare facility; preferably a National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC ) accredited center.

Experience developing procedures and monitoring a budget; planning and coordinating a program; supervising an organizational unit; providing liaison with customer/provider groups; interpreting federal or state regulations, CPR and first aid certified.

Ability to communicate effectively and with sensitivity with young children and their parents.

Applicants selected as final possible candidates must be able to pass a State of Idaho and University of Idaho criminal background check.

Must be aware of and use proper food handling procedures while preparing food or supervising others preparing food

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in elementary education or child development
