Early Childhood Education Instructor

The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership is seeking an Instructor in Early Childhood Education.  The position will include teaching Kindergarten in the SDSU Kindergarten (80%) and other instructional duties to include supervision of teacher candidates and/or teaching a college-level course in Early Childhood Education (20%).  The individual in this position serves as a liaison to facilitate collaboration between SDSU and the Brookings School District.  This is a one year, temporary, 10-month, term Faculty position.

Minimum qualifications include an earned Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, two or more years experience teaching in Kindergarten through grade 3 settings, certification to teach Kindergarten in South Dakota, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability and willingness to collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a variety of roles within the Brookings School District and South Dakota State University.  The ideal candidate will also have two or more years of experience teaching Kindergarten; familiarity with inquiry-based practices, project-based learning, constructivism, and/or Reggio Emilia-inspired practices; and experience with peer coaching, college-level teaching, and/or working with teacher candidates in an early childhood education program.
