Education Specialist (R18-52)

The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill an Education Specialist position in Albany, NY.

Description of Duties:

This position is responsible for assisting in the completion of deliverables in the Regulatory Training Unit as a part of the State University for New York’s (SUNY) Early Childhood Education and Training Program agreement. Duties include, but are not limited to: Schedule and provide training for approved project audiences, provide administration of and review of distance learning courses submitted for review, review training curriculum and materials for compliance with applicable SUNY and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) rules, regulations and policies, assist in needs assessments and program evaluation and analysis, complete project reports and documentation as required and other duties as assigned to meet contractual obligations.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  2. Demonstrated competence in adult learning theory and practice.
  3. Two (full time equivalent) years of experience in adult training and/or professional development.
  4. Three (full time equivalent) years of classroom or program experience working in a licensed or registered child care program.
  5. Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  7. Excellent organizational skills.
  8. Demonstrated ability to quickly master complex training content.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse groups.
  10. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  11. Able to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  12. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office especially Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  13. Ability to work variable hours and travel throughout NYS to areas that may not be served by public transportation as needed.
  14. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Educational degree in early childhood education, social services, human services or other related degree.
  2. Familiarity with government contracts and/or government regulations.

SPECIAL NOTES: Employment is with The Research Foundation for The State University of New York, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for the University at Albany.
