The Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University seeks applicants for the position of Executive Director of the Riata Center for Entrepreneurship and Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice. This position reports to the Head of the School of Entrepreneurship. The Executive Director of the Riata Center for Entrepreneurship requires appointment to the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice. Professors of Practice in the Spears School of Business focus primarily on teaching and service. The Riata Center is the school's outreach arm, and is the hub and catalyst for entrepreneurial activity on the Oklahoma State University campus. The center supports the school's teaching and research missions, and offers a number of outside-the-classroom activities to provide students the full entrepreneurial experience. The center also supports an active student incubator, runs a Veteran's Entrepreneurship Program, and manages an NSF I-Corps site that facilitates technology commercialization. The Riata Center is located in a state-of-the-art 4,000 square foot facility in the new Spears School of Business building, which was opened in spring 2018. The center also supports physical locations in downtown Stillwater and Tulsa, Oklahoma to further support its outreach and student support missions. Job responsibilities include: Collaborate with the School of Entrepreneurship faculty to deliver existing entrepreneurship programming, such as the Pitch-and-Poster competition, the Business Plan competition, workshops on entrepreneurship-related topics, and the Veteran’s Entrepreneurship Program. Develop and delivery new programs to encourage cross-campus collaboration and spur entrepreneurial activity on the Oklahoma State University campus. Direct the Riata Center student incubator, including recruiting mentors to work with the students on advancing their business ideas. Assist in preparing student and student teams to participate in local, state and national business plan competitions. Develop strong relationships within the Oklahoma entrepreneurial ecosystem to provide funding and other opportunities for entrepreneurship students. Manage Oklahoma State University’s NSF I-Corps site program. Work closely with the OSU Research Foundation’s Technology Development Center and Cowboy Technologies to encourage technology commercialization on the Oklahoma State University campus. Support entrepreneurship-related outreach activities in Stillwater, the state of Oklahoma and beyond. Direct and evaluate the Riata Center staff and student interns and employees. Assist in fundraising for the Riata Center including grants and donor funding. Teach one class per semester (fall and spring) in the School of Entrepreneurship.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Business or a related field. Five years of significant entrepreneurial business experience. Strong communication and people skills and the ability to work with internal and external constituencies. Enthusiasm for the entrepreneurial process and for student-led businesses. Must be comfortable acting as a visible leader in the Oklahoma entrepreneurial ecosystem. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with scalable new business ventures, particularly in STEM disciplines.
