Pay Range: $7.25 - $12.00 per hour, depending on experience

Position Summary:

This position is located in PARMA , IDAHO , which is located 42 miles from Boise, ID and 287 miles from Moscow, ID.

Duties include work in outside field plots, assisting the principle investigator, research graduate students, support scientist and/or research tech with planting, maintaining, and harvesting research plots. Duties will entail collecting and processing samples, as well as entering data using computers. Some work may include laboratory and greenhouse work.

In our pomology department, work includes vineyard/orchard pruning and training trees and vines, as well as collecting fruit samples and other labor tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Duties of this position require candidates to be at least 17 years of age.

Learn new skills, principles and techniques quickly; follow good safety practices; keep accurate records; perform a variety of specialized tasks and laboratory/field/orchard techniques specific to the needs of the position; perform tasks with diligence and accuracy; possess good interpersonal and communication skills; work in field conditions; work without supervision; be timely.

Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license by date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with: Field/orchard work; irrigation systems; common hand tools associated with farming and orchard work; and operating laboratory microscopes.

Ability to:

Lift and/or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

We will be hiring multiple temporary employees through harvest and into next farming season to assist with various duties for the Parma Research & Extension Center.
