South Dakota State University seeks a visionary leader to serve as Founding Director of the newly integrated School of Communication and Journalism, beginning with the 2018-19 academic year, pending final approval of the South Dakota Board of Regents.
The Founding Director will provide vision and leadership for a school of 300 undergraduate and graduate students and 25 faculty and staff in Communication Studies, Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations. Additionally, the Founding Director will be expected to teach based on his or her expertise and needs within the school.
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent in a related discipline, previous appointment as faculty with tenure, experience in administration, successful work with internal and external communities, and exemplary communications abilities.
