Coordinate the Eat Smart Idaho Program in Eastern Idaho. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating community nutrition advisors to ensure the quality and productivity of supervisees consistent with requirements of supporting grantors. Create and sustain partnerships with individuals, agencies, and organizations that result in the delivery of Eat Smart Idaho classes and in the implementation of projects and initiatives to support social, political, and environmental enhancements leading to improved decisions about nutrition and health for limited-resource children, adults, and families.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community Health, or related field; or Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences or related area AND 2 years of related work experience.
Knowledge of: healthful nutrition and physical activity practices; program planning and implementation; contributing to collaborative research; designing and conducting training programs; providing liaison with customer/provider groups; computer operation and using software.
Experience: training and supervising adults, teaching youth and adult audiences; developing, recommending, and evaluating program materials such as lesson plans or curricula, marketing materials, and informative brochures or articles; working with diverse people and cultures.
Possess: excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills; understanding of diverse cultures and individuals.
Ability to: work weekends and after regular business hours; emphasize and display compassion for limited-resource clientele; work throughout the Eastern counties of Idaho with the Pocatello, Bannock County Extension office being the primary workstation.
Education: Registered Dietitian, Master’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, Community Wellness or related field.
Experience: building and maintaining coalitions and agency collaborations; program evaluation; work experience using community health models; research, and statistics; working with government programs and within government standards.
Demonstrated ability to: organize and work with people and area agencies in problem-solving and decision making.
Ability to: work with and adapt research materials for effective oral or written educational use including adaptation to bilingual audiences, if necessary.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Ability to: travel, work weekends, after regular business hours and holidays.
