The Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering is offering an exciting career opportunity as the Program Director for the Engineering Extension Office which directs the Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) Consultation Program. The Program Director provides leadership and direction to the Engineering Extension Program within the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Engineering for Academics and Extension.
The Program Director is responsible for participation, promotion, and supervision of the staff in conducting on-site and follow-up surveys to locate and abate health and safety hazards. The Director writes and submits the annual grant application and all reports required by the funding agencies to obtain, provide, and sustain the resources to continue this program for the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering. The Program Director is the liaison with the OSHA Regional Office on the goals and performance of the grant. This position supervises an approximate annual budget in excess of $500,000 and has supervisory responsibilities for one part-time and 5 full-time employees. The successful candidate must possess a master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Safety, or related field with 5 years of experience with OSHA or OSHA consultation programs, policies and procedures, or related field; or a B.S. Degree in Science, Engineering, Safety, or related field with 10 years of experience with OSHA or OSHA consultation programs or related field completed by first day of employment; Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal relations, and motivational skills with employees, industrial plant managers, company officers, production/maintenance workers as well as fellow staff members and students; Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.
