Proposal Development Specialist

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University seeks candidates to fill the position of Proposal Development Specialist.  Incumbent will assist faculty members and research staff with the preparation and submission of complex research proposals to federal, state and private sponsors. Review, interpret and research requirements for funding opportunities. Work closely with researchers to coordinate, develop and submit compliant proposal applications, budgets, and other sponsor-required documentation. Adhere to sponsor rules and regulations and university policies and procedures. Develop complex budgets in accordance with federal regulations, sponsor requirements and university policies. Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Manage multiple tasks while adhering to sponsor deadlines. Perform special assignments as requested by Associate Dean with creating proposal development training materials for College faculty and staff.  Continue professional development by attending conferences, courses, classes and/or seminars on research administration-related topics.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor degree and two years or more of related experience. The proposal development specialist is expected to assist the College in achieving its vision and mission. A positive and professional attitude and willingness to assist as needed are expectations for all employees. Demonstrated knowledge of proposal processes for external sponsors, Superior analytical, organizational and time management skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional and the ability to adapt to various online proposal submission systems. Self-motivated and capable of multi-tasking under deadline pressure.

Prefer candidate with three years or more of relevant experience and be a Certified Research Administrator or Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator. Extensive knowledge of federal, state and private funding proposal processes. Demonstrated budget development skills using Microsoft Excel.
