The Department of Leadership and Counseling (L & C), College of Education, University of Idaho (UI) seeks passionate and well-qualified applicants for a full-time, 9-month Assistant Professor in Rehabilitation Counseling and Human Services, beginning August 2016. The successful candidate will be primarily involved with teaching and advising students on their academic programs, establishing and building a record of scholarly research [peer reviewed publications and presentations], building relationships with area agencies dedicated to, or interested in providing rehabilitation counseling services, identifying and recruiting graduate students into the rehabilitation counseling program.
•An earned doctorate in rehabilitation counselor education, rehabilitation psychology or closely related discipline
•Prior clinical experience as a rehabilitation counselor/rehabilitation psychologist working with individuals with disabilities
•Experience in teaching undergraduate or graduate courses and supervising masters’ students in their practicum and/or internship
•Evidence of potential for scholarly productivity
•Demonstrated potential for securing external funding
•CRC Certification and eligibility for licensure as a professional counselor (LPC ) in the State of Idaho
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that advance student recruitment efforts for the rehabilitation counseling and human services program and Category R advanced graduate certificate
•Commitment to designing and teaching online courses
•Interest and experience working with diverse populations
•Experience teaching in CORE and/or CACREP accredited graduate program
•Interest or experience teaching foundations of rehabilitation counseling, psychosocial and medical aspects of disability, assessment, and addictions/substance abuse counseling.
•Track record publishing and presenting at professional conferences
•Experience with grant writing and/or securing external funds
•Current license as a professional counselor (LPC )
•Clinical experience in rehabilitation counseling and mental health counseling
•Interest in leading or participating in collaborative efforts with local, state, and national partners
•Experience designing instruction informed by cultural proficiency and inclusive pedagogy
