The University of Idaho Art & Design program seeks a progressive and accomplished Assistant Professor of Communication Design with emphasis in XD, UX and Interaction Design, and with facility in multiple design approaches to connect to other Art + Design focus areas such as graphic design, photography, virtual technology + design, and/or art & design history. Collaborate with faculty within programs in the College of Art and Architecture. CAA Faculty teach integrated concepts of art, design, and technology with a focus on cultural and environmental stewardship in our related programs.
•MFA in Communication Design or closely related terminal degree
•Demonstrated experience equivalent to 2 years full time teaching beyond graduate teaching at the university-level (please make this easy to assess in application materials).
•Evidence of a strong scholarly/exhibition record that will lead to promotion and tenure at a research institution.
•Evidence of strong professional experience and a strong studio practice/portfolio.
•Evidence of effective teaching/strong student work.
•Demonstrated knowledge of current contemporary practices in design.
•Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
•Demonstrated knowledge of XD, UX, and/or Interaction Design
•Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: web, environmental, exhibition, wayfinding, and or visual/graphic design. Time-based media, photography, 3D modeling and design, motion graphics/VFX , and/or art & design history.
•Ability to work collaboratively with and in support of other disciplines in the College of Art and Architecture
