Research Associate III, EA Martin Program, South Dakota State University. Primary objectives are to provide a supervisory and research position for the mobile unit and laboratory, assistance with the supervision and execution of tasks associated with the SD Department of Health contract, an increased capacity to publish scientific papers, and ability to expand research opportunities by adding increased effort for grant and contract proposals.
Essential job duties: Write and submit grant proposals and manuscripts; perform data analyses; assist with the execution, analysis, and report writing for maternal child health epidemiological projects; manage EAM biospecimen laboratory; formulate and test hypotheses using SAS, Stata, or R statistical software; present research results; develop methods and quality control procedures for imaging equipment; acquire acceptable bone density scans and Biodex measurements; analyze imaging equipment scans; and train staff and students on data collection techniques. Earned doctoral degree in Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, Epidemiology or related field within six months of hire and a minimum of 5 years’ experience conducting human research required.
Proficiency with SAS, R, or Stata statistical software programs, the internet, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) is required. Must have effective communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and presentation skills. Must possess valid driver’s license, pass IT security training and federal security clearance, and be willing to travel. Need to accommodate flexible working hours including occasional evening and weekend work. Phlebotomy training, processing of biological specimens, knowledge and experience with bone imaging equipment, and understanding of epidemiology and research methods through a science background or coursework is preferred.
