Louisiana State University (LSU) invites applications for the newly established position of Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Global Engagement (VPGSGE). LSU currently offers a highly differentiated portfolio of graduate offerings that includes graduate certificates, master’s degrees, and doctorates in traditional and online delivery formats.
Responsibilities: The Vice Provost manages policies, supervises operations, and has administrative oversight for the Graduate School and International Programs. As Chief Operating Officer of the Graduate School, the VPGSGE oversees centralized graduate functions and communications, provides guidance and support to the colleges and departments regarding decentralized graduate programs, manages the data collection and analytics for reports on graduate education, and provides leadership in graduate student services and advocacy. The major units within the Graduate School are Admissions and Recruiting, and Academic Services. As Chief Operating Officer of International Programs, the VPGSGE oversees the institutional commitment to developing policies and processes that infuse international and comparative perspectives throughout undergraduate and graduate research, teaching, and service missions of the university, and facilitates international partnerships with academic institutions abroad. International Services, International Development and Outreach, and the International Cultural Center are the major units within International Programs. In both capacities, the VPGSGE works closely with academic deans on recruiting and retention of graduate and international students and faculty, and professional development opportunities for graduate students. The Vice Provost reports directly to the Executive Vice President and Provost as a member of the leadership team.
Required Qualifications: Ability to provide visionary leadership in graduate education and international programs; extensive administrative experience including responsibility for budgetary and personnel matters; experience with international engagement such as academic programming, student or faculty recruitment and exchanges and/or forging inter-institutional agreements or relationships; commitment to the values and disciplines of graduate education and international affairs. The successful candidate must be eligible for appointment as Full Professor in their respective field with a distinguished record of scholarly activities.
