Austin, TX — At its 129th Annual Meeting in Austin, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today named the University of Minnesota winner of its inaugural Institutional Award for Global Learning, Research, and Engagement. The award recognizes institutions at the leading edge of inclusive and comprehensive efforts to internationalize their campuses. The University of Minnesota established a wide-ranging internationalization effort that spans the entire institution – from international students and study abroad to research projects and curriculum design.

Austin, TX — At its 129th Annual Meeting in Austin, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today named the University of California, Riverside the winner of its 2016 Project Degree Completion Award. The annual Project Degree Completion Award identifies and honors institutions employing innovative methods or programs to increase retention and graduation outcomes and/or close achievement gaps for all students or specific groups of students. To markedly boost graduation rates, UC Riverside reengineered introductory mathematics curriculum and employed new advising tools to target students at risk of non-completion. UC Riverside will receive a $15,000 prize to help expand and magnify its successful retention and degree completion efforts.

Peter Magrath Community Engagement Scholarship Award during a ceremony at the group’s annual meeting in Austin, Texas.

Austin, TX – The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), today honored F. Bailey Norwood of Oklahoma State University and Ann D. Christy of The Ohio State University as recipients of the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Excellence in College and University Teaching Awards for Food and Agricultural Sciences. Six regional and two new teacher awardees were also named recipients of the 2016 Excellence in College and University Teaching Awards for Food and Agricultural Sciences. The awards, which celebrates university faculty for their use of innovative teaching methods and service to students, were presented at the 129th APLU Annual Meeting now underway in Austin, Texas.

Austin, TX – The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today named four winners of its fifth annual Innovation & Economic Prosperity (IEP) University Awards. The winners — Arizona State University, Colorado State University, Montana State University and Purdue University — competed in four different categories that recognize different components of economic engagement. The categories are talent, innovation, place and connections. The winners of the awards, which honor public universities actively engaged in and promoting regional economic development, were announced at the APLU Annual Meeting now underway in Austin, Texas.
