APLU Statement on President Trump Naming Kelvin Droegemeier OSTP Director

Washington, DC – Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) President Peter McPherson today released the following statement regarding President Trump’s decision to name Kelvin Droegemeier as Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy.

“Having such a strong leader as head of OSTP is essential to ensuring science is a key factor considered in the policymaking process. All Americans are better off when science has a seat at the table.

As Secretary for Science and Technology to Oklahoma Governor Fallin, Vice President for Research at the University of Oklahoma, past Vice Chair of the National Science Board, and past Chair of the APLU Council on Research, he is extraordinarily well prepared to advance the science and technology agenda for our nation.
