Washington, DC – As the House and Senate move toward a conference committee to reconcile differences in their versions of the tax legislation, Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) President Peter McPherson today sent the following letter to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady, Ranking Member Richard Neal, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch and Ranking Member Ron Wyden. The letter details key provisions public research universities believe should be protected in the final version of the legislation to help make college more accessible and affordable and to promote the nation’s economic prosperity.

Washington, DC – Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) President Peter McPherson today sent the following letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) expressing strong support for swift congressional action that would, at a minimum, codify the provisions of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy into law.

Washington, DC – As college and university leaders continue to innovate new ways to help more students stay in school and graduate, a broad consensus is growing about how holistic, campus-wide, proactive advising systems are driving student success in significant ways. But implementing such systems, which often involves changes to institutional structures, policies and practices while integrating the use of technology and data analytics, can be complicated, costly and time consuming. While some schools have excelled at employing these systems, frequently referred to as Integrated Planning and Advising for Student Success (IPASS), many institutions find themselves aware of the vast benefits, but uncertain of how to proceed with implementing such a system on their own campus.
