As part of its ongoing effort to help member institutions magnify their economic impact, APLU recently announced finalists for its 2017 Innovation & Economic Prosperity University Awards. The awards honor institutions performing exemplary work to advance the economic wellbeing of their states, regions, and the nation through a variety of efforts. In this first in a three-part series, APLU spotlights finalists in the “Talent” IEP Universities Awards category, for exemplary initiatives in education and workforce development. One of the finalists will be named the Talent category award winner Sunday, November 12 in Washington, DC during the APLU Annual Meeting.

APLU will host a free workshop on campus-wide advising redesign ahead of its 2017 annual meeting in Washington, DC. The workshop, Launching Campus-Wide Advising Redesign, will be held Saturday, November 11 1:00 to 5:00pm (EST) at the Marriott Wardman Park, where the APLU Annual Meeting is being held.
APLU’s Council on Research (CoR), which is comprised of senior research officers at the nation’s public research universities, has named eight individuals to its inaugural class of CoR Research Leader Fellows. The fellowship enables individuals who aspire to become vice presidents, vice provosts, or vice chancellors of research to develop critical new knowledge and skills essential to research support and competitiveness. The fellows were selected earlier this summer and introduced at the 2017 CoR Summer Meeting in Reno, Nevada.
