Institutions participating in the program report that its in-depth application process leads to insights about economic engagement efforts, strengthens relationships with campus members and community partners, and in some cases leads to the formation of new collaborations, initiatives, and/or programs.

Jones, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Clemson University, noted that “Clemson’s participation in the IEP university designation process led to a new vision for the type of organizational structure that will most effectively serve our efforts in the future.” Similarly, Dr. John M. Mason, Jr., Vice President for Research & Economic Development at Auburn University, observed that the IEP Universities program “provided us with a thorough internal review of our economic development and engagement activity, and enabled us to be both strategic and deliberate in planning for the future.”
