APLU, the Coalition of Urban Serving Universities, and the Association of American Medical Colleges are hosting a webinar on Wednesday, May 17, 1:00-2:00 p.m EST examining how campus leaders can create an inclusive climate to improve underrepresented student retention across disciplines. Click here to register now for the webinar.
This webinar is part of a series intended to stimulate discussion and engage university leaders around topics from the recent report Increasing Diversity in the Biomedical Research Workforce: Actions for Improving Evidence, which is supported by the National Institutes of Health. It will explore how leaders at campuses that have made significant progress toward diversity succeeded at moving the dial – through their actions, words, policies, and practices. The webinar will also provide an overview of an ongoing pilot of a Diversity & Inclusion Culture and Climate Toolkit at eight institutions in California. Finally, Cal State Fullerton, one of the pilot sites for the D&I toolkit, will speak about how they used the tool and results for their campus. The webinar will conclude with an audience Q&A and discussion around how to monitor and improve campus climate.
