The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) hosted a hurricane recovery fundraiser in Washington, DC last Saturday. After hurricanes Irma and Maria, the university created a UVI Relief Fund to support students, faculty, and staff impacted by the storms. The storms devastated the U.S. Virgin Islands and inflicted significant damage to UVI. More than 2,600 students and staff members were affected by the storms.
Several years ago, APLU and the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) established a joint task force to examine issues relating to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in agriculture production. The task force, comprised of leadership drawn from the two associations with representatives from the agricultural production industries, the pharmaceutical industry, and with significant input from government agencies, issued its report and recommendations in October 2015.
