Matt Renn is the Data Analyst for the Personalized Learning Consortium and Office of Urban Initiatives. In this capacity, Matt provides research and data analytics support on two Gates Foundation investments: the Frontier Set—a national initiative that supports a select group of 31 colleges, universities, and state systems all committed to increasing student access and success and eliminating racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in college attainment—and the PLC’s ongoing work centered on improving teaching and learning through the advancement of digital and adaptive learning technologies within higher education.
Prior to joining APLU, Matt worked at the Aspen Institute where he supported the work of the Frontier Set project housed within the College Excellence Program. He was also a College Adviser with the College Advising Corps, a national program that places recent college graduates in underserved high schools with the goal of promoting college access among low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented minority students. Matt holds an MA in Higher Education from the University of Maryland—College Park and a BA in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
