Before joining APLU, Katie worked at a local nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness. She spent three years working at Carpenter’s Shelter; beginning as an Americorps VISTA Data Coordinator and eventually as the Rapid Re-Housing Administrative Coordinator. While in this position, Katie served on the innovations committees, racial equity task force, and as chair of the scholarship committee dedicated to increasing education access for those experiencing homelessness and those with a history of homelessness. Katie is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a B.A. in political science and campaign management. She worked on several political campaigns and with the local government as an intern at their Continuum of Care. She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Policy at George Mason University.
