The Powered by Publics (PxP) initiative has been an ambitious undertaking from the beginning, aiming to produce hundreds of thousands more undergraduate degrees and halving equity gaps for low-income, minoritized, and first-generation students by 2025. APLU has collected student performance data from the 127 participating institutions over the past three years – in 2020, 2021, and 2022 – to evaluate progress toward these stretch goals. The purpose of this report is to document the network’s progress and share examples of innovation emerging from cross-campus collaborations.

This report outlines key components of effective completion grant programs. Completion grant programs provide small amounts of funding to students with demonstrated need during the last leg of their academic journey. Such programs have grown in popularity over the past decade as institutions seek to meet students’ unmet financial need and boost college completion. Drawing on the experience and impact of completion grant programs of several institutions, APLU and USU released the report to highlight current completion grant practices at urban and open-access institutions, provide considerations for implementing completion grant programs, and demonstrate the need for ongoing study of completion grant programs and improving their impact.
