More than 1,600 public university leaders gathered virtually for the 2020 APLU Annual Meeting. The theme of the 2020 APLU Annual Meeting was Resilience & Equity. During the meeting, APLU named a new board of directors, announced winners of its four institutional awards, hosted 5 keynotes and nearly 20 interactive concurrent.sessions.

APLU Announces 2021 Board of Directors, Montana State University President Waded Cruzado to Serve as Chair
The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) announced its 2021 Board of Directors. At a ceremony during the association’s 133rd Annual Meeting, Montana State University President Waded Cruzado became Chair of the Board, taking over for University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Chancellor Robert Jones.

The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) named four winners of its eighth annual Innovation & Economic Prosperity (IEP) University Awards and three new IEP University designees. The awards recognize innovative projects or programs in economic engagement.
APLU Names University of California, Davis Platinum Award Winner of 2020 Institutional Award for Global Learning, Research, & Engagement; Two Others Recognized for Internationalization Efforts with Gold Awards
In recognition of its extraordinary global learning, research, and engagement efforts, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) named the University of California, Davis the Platinum Award level winner of the 2020 Institutional Award for Global Learning, Research & Engagement. The Platinum Award is APLU’s highest-level award granted to a member institution in recognition of inclusive and comprehensive efforts to internationalize their campus. The University of Pittsburgh and Virginia Commonwealth University were recognized for their internationalization efforts as recipients of Gold Level Awards. The Gold Level award recognizes institutions that have excelled in one of the four dimensions of internationalization.

The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) named Northern Arizona University (NAU) the winner of its 2020 Degree Completion Award during a ceremony at its annual meeting. The annual award works to identify, recognize, and reward institutions that employ innovative and evidence-based approaches to improve degree completion while ensuring educational quality.
