Council for Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching (CARET)

The Council for Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching (CARET) is a national grassroots organization of volunteers created in 1982 by the Board on Agriculture Assembly of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU). CARET seeks to enhance national support and understanding of the land-grant university system’s food and agricultural research, extension, and teaching programs that enhance the quality of life for all people.

In July of 2022, the Administrative Heads Section (AHS) and CARET Executive Committee voted to endorse the new CARET Strategic Plan. The plan focuses on four strategic initiatives accompanied by strategic plan actions with clear, measurable goals to improve advocacy and promote accountability of CARET and AHS processes. These actions and goals are organized around the advocacy calendar of CARET, the Board on Agricultural Assembly, and Policy Board of Directors.
