The Council of 1890s Officers serve as ex-officio members of all committees of the Council. The chair, in consultation with the Council, (1) calls meetings of the Officers and the Council; (2) establishes an agenda and presides at meetings of the Officers and the Council; and (3) appoints chairs and members of standing and ad hoc committees as appropriate.
The chair-elect is elected every three years by members of the Council and shall succeed to the chair and past-chair. The chair-elect is responsible for planning the annual meeting and/or program in conjunction with the program committee of the Council. The two (2) Members-at-large shall be elected every two years by members of the Council.
