535 institutions of higher education and 53 higher education organizations sent a letter calling for Congressional leaders to pass a one-year extension of the Perkins Loan Program. The legislation to provide the extension, the Higher Education Extension Act of 2015 (H.R. 3594), passed in the House under suspension of the rules but has not received unanimous consent in the Senate.
