Council on Research Awards

For 2023, the APLU Council on Research (COR) is presenting a slate of three council awards. The COR Executive Committee brought back two of our most popular award titles and introduced a third award as a new award specific to 2023.

Award for Advancing Diversity and Inclusion in University Research 

This award is intended to recognize a university’s Office of Research that has implemented one or more novel approaches for improving the diversity and inclusivity of the research enterprise at the institution, and thereby the research workforce pipeline.

Award for Innovations in Safety and Accountability for Researchers (SAR)

The COR-SAR award is intended to recognize a university that has implemented innovative policies, processes, and/or education and communication campaigns that promote and ensure the safety and personal accountability of researchers at all levels in academia and in all settings where research is conducted.

Public Impact Research (PIR) Award

This award will recognize a university’s Office of Research for multi-project research efforts focused on community/public impact (such as PIR, HIBAR, Grand Challenge, and similar programs).
