Register now for the 2024 APLU Council on Strategic Communications (CSC) Summer Meeting taking place from Sunday, June 23 through Tuesday, June 25 in Washington, DC!
Both informative and fun, the CSC Summer Meeting is a terrific opportunity to network with fellow senior communications and marketing leaders from other public and land-grant universities, exchange best practices, and develop new ideas to improve strategic communications efforts.
A highlight of this year’s conference will be an evening visit to The Washington Post headquarters for an executive editorial panel and Q&A session followed by food and drinks.
Featured sessions at the conference this year will include discussions on:
- Planning for and addressing student protests and demands, other activism on campus, pressure from external stakeholders for university action, and more;
- A panel of public research university presidents on a wide array of issues, including working with elected officials, board and donor relations, student safety, athletics and more;
- Reclaiming the narrative and helping to shape public opinion about the value of public higher education;
- How university communicators can capitalize on AI to make their work more creative and efficient in ethical and appropriate ways; and
- The integral role of science communicators in advancing support and excitement around campus research activities.
The meeting will kick off on the evening of Sunday, June 23 with a rooftop welcome reception at the University of Arizona’s Washington, DC Center for Outreach & Collaboration overlooking some of Washington’s most famous landmarks.
On Monday, the group will spend time in DC before traveling to George Mason University’s Mason Square campus for sessions and demonstrations in one of its innovation labs before returning to the city for the evening visit to The Washington Post’s headquarters for a special session with an executive panel immediately followed by food and drinks. On Tuesday, all sessions will be based in DC.
