CSA Circle Series

The application period for the inaugural CSA Circle Series is now closed. Please look out for more information on future CSA Circles.

The inaugural Council on Student Affairs Circle Series launches in Summer 2023! We are delighted to announce the upcoming CSA Circle Series, which will focus on student affairs contributions to holistic well-being in student success. This exciting Circle will bring together professionals in higher education to explore the latest research, trends, and best practices in supporting students’ academic success and overall well-being. We believe that promoting holistic well-being is crucial to helping students achieve their full potential, and we are excited to provide a forum for discussing how to link our student affairs work to enhance students’ mental, physical, and emotional well-being and success. The CSA Circle Series promises to be an engaging and informative event, and we look forward to welcoming all those who are passionate about supporting student success.

What is the CSA Circle Series?
Based on the social learning space concept, the CSA Circle Series is a facilitated online group of senior student affairs officers at APLU member institutions, who advocate for student affairs and positive, sustainable change on campus. Through regular discussions of their goals, challenges, and insights, members of the Circle engage in social learning. Unlike traditional webinars, social learning spaces allow all participants to contribute and develop their own expertise.

Each CSA Circle meets weekly for 4 weeks to discuss an area of interest, hot topic, or need in student affairs. At the conclusion of the Circle, the participants co-construct a brief informing external audiences of their discussions.

Who can participate?
The CSA Circle Series is open to all Senior Student Affairs Officers at APLU member institutions. This initiative is led by the Chair-Elect of the APLU’s Council on Student Affairs and the Council’s APLU Liaison. Each Circle aims to include between 6-10 participants.

Who is the audience?
The audiences for the CSA Circle Series Briefs vary widely depending on the topic. Generally, the targeted audiences for the CSA Circle Briefs are college and university leadership, other student affairs professionals, and policymakers.

When do the Circles meet?
The CSA Circle Series is a weekly, short-term commitment. Each Circle will meet at the same time on the same day for 4-5 weeks. Participants will be communicated the dates and times of each Circle Meeting, with the assumption that each leader will prioritize attendance as much as possible.
