About this Role:

The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for an Accountant I. This position is responsible for daily operations of Wildcat Corner, a new retail store located in the College of Veterinary Medicine. This includes managing new and existing inventory, setting pricing, online order coordination, and daily deposit reconciliation. This position is also responsible for the daily functions of Accounts Receivable for the Dean's Office Department. Position will provide administrative support in the Dean's Office as needed.

Duties / Responsibilities:

CVM Retail Store Operations:

• Responsible for daily operations of Retail Store

• Responsible for seeking out products for the store, working with vendors to customize products, and ensuring store retains appropriate stock of all items

• Works with Business Manager to set pricing for all items in the store.

• Tracks all incoming deliveries ensuring items ordered are received in full and without damage

• Utilizes software to track all outgoing products to ensure store inventory is maintained

• Ensures shelves are stocked with merchandise

• Pulls merchandise for online orders, prepares shipment, and ensures timely mailing o Responsible for monthly physical inventory counts

• Prepares daily deposit for cash and credit card sales

• Tracks and reports monthly sales tax to KSU Division of Financial Services

• Balances the cash register drawer daily

• Works with Business Manager to make sure store is adequately staffed during normal business hours as well as staffed during evening/weekend hours as needed for Cat Town, Orientation Week, Club Fair, and Open House

Provide Administrative support in the Dean's Office when needed and/or in the absence of other Administrative Assistants:

• Welcomes Guests and directs them accordingly

• Answers door; answers phone

• Other administrative responsibilities as needed

Academic Unit Accounts Receivable:

• Determine account and object code for all incoming deposits

• Post payments to accounting application software for daily cash/credit sales as well as interfund vouchers

• Prepare CashNet and send deposits over to the Cashier's Office daily

• Record deposit into the CVM Accounting System and scan the deposit and all back-up documentation into ImageNow

• Responsible for reviewing all online CashNet payments and accurately posting each deposit into the CVM Accounting System

• Generates reports from Accounting application software


• Manages and maintains all department inventory records for four academic departments

• Completes appropriate Division of Financial Services (DFS) documents to request a new property number for inventory additions

• Creates label with the property number and places label on the inventory item

• Enters pertinent equipment information into CVM accounting system making equipment easy to track

• Completes an annual audit of all inventory items for the accuracy of inventory placement and personnel management of item

• Assists personnel in inventory disposal options as needed

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma

• One year relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree

• Ability to communicate with customers in a clear and concise manner

• Experience working in a retail store

• Experience managing accounts receivable

• Experience performing administrative tasks such as answering phones and greeting customers
