About This Role:

This position provides account management for purchasing and payments of the department, coordinates and monitors accounts receivable functions for the department, and is responsible for all short course accounting management, accounts payable and travel support for the north campus facilities. Position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position meets regularly with all department staff, faculty, students, outside vendors and departments across campus. Incumbent is given complete latitude in performing duties to the extent allowed by Federal, State and University guidelines and carries a multitude of and complex accounting responsibilities. Must have knowledge of the Financial Information System (FIS), department shadow accounting system, state and university guidelines and utilization and adherence to KSU policy and procedures.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a high school diploma and three or more years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related field

• 3-5 years of experience in business or unit management with prior experience managing budgets preferred

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

• Through knowledge of budget and procurement practices and procedures

• Experience in positions requiring attention to detail and applying independent judgment with a high degree of accuracy and accountability

• Excellent organizational skills

• Proven initiative and ability to work independently

• Inquisitive and comfortable performing in-depth research

• Work experience complying with federal, state, and university regulations and policies

• Experience responding to needs and requests of a wide range of clients in a friendly and effective manner

• University post-award grant experience

• Experience working on a successful team

• Ability to meet tight deadlines

• Good communication skills
