About This Role:

Kansas Forest Service operates a conservation seedling distribution program. The CTPP (Conservation Tree Planting Program) procures and/or produces various types of woody plant material including bare-root seedlings, stratified seed and containerized seedlings to be used for conservation plantings throughout the state. Over 40 species of deciduous and coniferous trees and shrubs are propagated and or/procured on an annual basis. A full-time agricultural technician is needed to support packing/shipping operations during spring and fall seedling distribution seasons, in addition to providing back-up support for greenhouse operations after distribution duties have ended for the season.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

 

• High school education

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Three years experience in the propagation and handling of trees and shrubs

• Horticulture-related educational experience

• Experience operating, maintaining and servicing agricultural equipment and shop tools

• Knowledge of the hazards and proper use of insecticides, fungicides and herbicides

• Experience managing work crews

 

Other Requirements:

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

Must be willing to obtain a restricted-use pesticide applicator certificate (class 2 and 3A) within 6 months of employment.
