The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications seeks an assistant professor to join our sports media and communication program starting in August 2021. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in advertising, journalism, communication, sports management or a related field; professional experience in sports information, sports promotion, sports marketing, or a related field; and demonstrated teaching ability at the college level. We are particularly interested in a candidate who has an active and contemporary research agenda with evidence of or potential for external funding.
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in advertising, journalism, communication, sports management or a related field. Preferred qualifications include professional experience in sports information, sports promotion, sports marketing, or a related field; evidence of successful college level teaching experience; evidence of published scholarly work in relevant peer-reviewed journals; a record of external support for research and/or creative work; and evidence of strong leadership and service contributions to an academic program.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications is accredited by the ACEJMC and offers undergraduate majors in advertising and public relations, broadcasting, journalism, and sports media and communication. Our graduate program offers master’s in integrated media communications and professional journalism and graduate certificates in financial communications and public relations & social media. We create a student-centered environment providing hands-on experiences to enhance learning outcomes. Students are successful in national competitions, collaborate on research, and complete internships with recognized agencies and companies in leading markets.
