The Department of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff invites applications for a 12-month tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor for Agricultural Engineering to start in January 2021. Applicants must be a certified professional engineer (P.E.) or demonstrate the ability to qualify for a P.E. in Arkansas. And should have experience and qualifications to be able to facilitate and coordinate activities required for ABET accreditation of the agricultural engineering program.

The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses in power and machinery and agricultural production systems at the undergraduate level. He/she should have a thorough and broad understanding of modern equipment used in the construction, agricultural and energy industries.

The successful candidate should be able to challenge students’ creative minds to develop and improve the next generation of agricultural equipment, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, power trains, hydraulics and agricultural mechanics.

The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in curriculum development, student advisement, internship supervision, industry collaboration, student recruitment, assessment, and the development and delivery of industry training programs. Expectations also include engagement in scholarship, grant writing, campus governance and other service.

The successful applicant must have a strong interest in higher education and be enthusiastic about creating an educational environment that is innovative and inspiring to students in the classroom and in the field.

THE UNIVERSITY: The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is an 1890 Land-Grant institution with approximately 2,600 students. The University offers undergraduate degrees in more than 40 majors in the schools of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences; Business and Management; Education; and Arts and Sciences. The campus is located in Pine Bluff, population 49,083. Pine Bluff is 42 miles south of Little Rock.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Agriculture is in the School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences. The Department offers a new Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Engineering, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Sciences (Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, and Agronomy), a Bachelor of Science Degree in Regulatory Science (Agriculture, Environmental Biology, Industrial Health and Safety), and a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Engineering Technology or closely related discipline. Three or more years of teaching and curriculum development experience at the college level in the areas of agricultural power and machines, agricultural production systems, and soil and water systems. Five or more years of professional experience in the agricultural or construction equipment industry. Demonstrated ability in developing industry partnerships in the agricultural or construction equipment industry and/or the ability to facilitate procurement of resources in an academic environment.

SALARY: Commensurate with training and experience.
